Seasonal Anime Tag~

Fall Anime Tag

Yahalloooo~ (^ _ ^)/

Once again, it's time for my "exactly-the-same-as-always" Anime Tag greeting.. ^^;
Uh.. Yea..
SO! Seasonal Anime Tag! >ω<
This time for the Fall Season which is pretty much finishing up this week :3
And my thoughts for this season?
.. *sighhhh*
Whenever I finish one of these tags, I always say how excited and hopeful I am for the next season and it's very rare that I'm not let down by it ( ; ; )"
I was suuuuuuper excited for this season and I was quite let down by some I was most looking forward to... (/□\*)・゜
*cough* Code:Realize: Sousei no Himegimi *cough* ..I honestly don't even know what happened. Bad adaptation;;
But still there were some I enjoyed and will continue enjoying since my favourites are all going on for a second cour! *ω*
....
I mean, I don't want to be too harsh :,) Most series I watched this season I rated around a 7/10 because...well, I enjoyed them and they were good. But maybe only just good; nothing ground-breaking, you know? And I would also recommend those series because good is good! ..but good doesn't always mean ground-breaking.. :,)

You know what? Let's just start this thing already!! >ω<" ..I'm rambling ^^;

[ Remember, of course, that the answers to these questions are all my opinion. So please don't get offended if I dislike something you like and/or our thoughts don't match ]

1. What was the best anime?
For me, the best anime had to be Inuyashiki! *o*

It actually took me a while to decide whether to watch this or not :,) But in the end, I just went with it because the idea of 58 year old hero was appealing-- N-Not in a weird way!!! Just because all the heroes in shows these days are young and stuff. I mean, when has there ever been an older one?!
...
Exactly.
..unless there has and I just wasn't aware ^^;
Aaaaaanyway!
This series focuses on the life of Ichirou Inuyashiki and...it's not the best life he has;; Because he is older, the world has just generally written him off as pathetic and incapable. Even his family treats him like nothing despite all he does for them! One day, his doctor reveals to him that he has cancer and won't have much time left. Just when Inuyashiki is about to give up on everything, a blinding light engulfs him one night while he is in a park. After that night, it appears he has been turned into a machine of sorts and can no longer die and has been given incredible abilities! He then uses these new changes to begin a new chapter in his life by becoming a hero to the people. That night in the park though...there was also another person with him and what Inuyashiki doesn't know is that soon their fates will intertwine as this other person also became a machine like Inuyashiki.
This. Anime. Is. AWESOME!!!
Like, it's just sooo good! *ω*
The antagonist, Hiro Shishigami is a brilliant villain! ..like, there is no way to defend what he does at all, so you just completely and totally hate him! ..well, I did anyway :,)
I mean, there are times when you feel bad for him, but then you remember all the stuff he has done and it slightly ebbs away;;
But the ending of this series... WAS SO EPIC!!!!!! *o*
Inuyashiki eventually regains the affection of his family, or...maybe better yet, they just show him that they still loved him. And once it seems like they can relax together again, another disaster threatens their peace. And it's ended by Hiro and Inuyashiki and...
IT'S JUST SO EPIC WHAT THEY DO!!! ..but also sad;;
I mean, there are elements of this series (maybe more than just "elements") that are really dark and disturbing and just straight up messed up, but it's still awesome!!
And I recommend this series 100% *ω*

[ my rating: 9/10 on MAL ]

2. What was the worst anime?
There were a few I could think of, but I decided to go with Ousama Game: The Animation.

This is just a very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very bad series ( -___- );
It's got weak story telling that barely explains anything. Weak characters with backstories that are barely explained. Weak animation. Basically...everything is weak and not explained.
So, Nobuaki Kanazawa is the wishy-washy protagonist.
He transferred to a new school and once there, is reluctant to get involved with any of them because of events that happened at his old school. When a sports relay takes place at the school, he ends up opening up just a little bit and then the whole class receives a text message from someone or something calling themselves "The King."
No one in the class takes this message seriously and just dismisses it. Nobuaki is the only one who knows it isn't a joke and tries to convince everyone that it's real and soon enough, they're all thrown into this death game.
I mean, the general idea behind this anime isn't completely appalling. I kind of like the idea of the game and the people involved trying to figure out it's origin and how to stop it.
But this is just handled so terribly that it's a lost cause :,)
Whoever this "King" person is isn't properly explained. The origin seems to be a type of virus that is somehow tracked on a computer?? I honestly have no idea;;
It's boring and dull and every single character is unlikeable. They're either pathetic as hell or crazy as hell and whatever back story they have, like I said, just isn't explained. How can you like a character you barely know?
Just...don't watch it. Do yourself a favour and avoid this at all costs.
..and burn the second season before we have to watch it!!

[ my rating; 2/10 on MAL ]

3. What was your favourite anime?
My favourite anime this season was definitely Garo: Vanishing Line *ω*

I'm a BIG fan of the Garo series in general, so I was suuuuuper excited when I saw there would be a new series! And even better! Garo has always been a two cour show and since this series hasn't ended yet and it still ongoing, it looks like this will also have a second cour...
So, hella YES!!!
This Garo series is set in Russell City where a dark omen is threatening the lives of the people there. The first person to hear of this omen is a man named Sword and he dons the golden armour of Garo to fight this omen more commonly known as a "Horror" which is born from a persons negative feelings and takes over said person entirely. His clue in finding out about this omen in the first place was the phrase "El Dorado" which causes his path to cross with a young girl named Sophie Hennes who is looking for her older brother; her clue to finding her brother also being the phrase "El Dorado."
Sword eventually agrees to help Sophie find her missing brother and thus begins their journey together.
I'm reeeeeeeally into this so far! *o*
And it's also really cool to see a Garo series in a more modern setting! The first series was kinda medieval-esque and the second series was set in ancient Japan, of sorts! So modern day is super cool! *ω*
I'm really enjoying everything about this! The characters are fun and enjoyable! Especially Sophie ♥ Sword is also pretty awesome and I like Luke as well and Gina is also a super cool badass ( ๑॔˃̶◡ ˂̶๑॓)
And the story is going well, so far! The first cour had good pacing and the development between Sophie and Sword's relationship was gradual and also...pretty cute :,)
And now they officially (it seems) have Gina joining their journey, it's going to be a awesome second cour and I just have to know what this "El Dorado" thing is and why it's connected to Sophie's brother!! *o*
Each series is separate to each other, so you can watch any at whatever time! :3
So, I'd recommend this one for sure! It may even become my second favourite in the series! I don't know if it'll be good enough to replace Garo: Honoo no Kokuin as my favourite, but it's climbing the ranks at least :,)

[ my rating; 8/10 on MAL ]
..it may change though since we still have the second cour to go :,)

4. What was your favourite OP. song?
There were quite a lot I really liked, but in the end...I chose the obvious choice! >ω<
..just kidding! But seriously.
I went with Ugoku, Ugoku (Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou).

When cute girls dab in an opening sequence...
This is when you know anime has really evolved :,D
But being serious for a second! This is a really sweet and feel-good series and this OP. song is the cutest thing I've seen in a long time! It's so catchy! Plus when you have Inorin and Shikaco singing together...you know it's definitely going to be freaking adorable :,) ♡

5. What was your favourite ED. song?
Again, quite a few I could choose from;;
But I went with the choice that a new favourite singer of mine sang!
And that is Step Up LOVE (Kekkai Sensen & Beyond) *ω*

I couldn't find the TV Size on YouTube (which I always do) but the full version is better anyway since... You know... DAOKO ♥
I first heard DAOKO when Shingeki no Bahamut: Virgin Soul aired back in April and I've loved and brought a lot of her music since :,)
Her and Yasuyuki Okamura really rock this song ;3
It's so bouncy and has the coolest sound to it! It's so fun to listen to and it totally suits the crazy yet colourful world of Kekkai Sensen :,)

6. Who was your favourite seiyuu of the season?
As I thought about this, it became clear that I really couldn't possibly have chosen anyone else because...it just wouldn't have been right! :,)
That person is Kana Hanazawa (voiced Hinata "Hina" Kawamoto from 3-gatsu no Lion 2nd Season).

First of all...
There can't be a person alive who doesn't love and/or at least respect Hana-chan's amazing talent! ..and if there is, then...well, whatever > <
Second of all...
I mean, if you've been watching the second season of 3-gatsu no Lion...you'll know how beautifully stunning and emotional Hana-chan's performance has been;;
Basically the second season of 3-gatsu no Lion has hugely focused on bullying and Hina has been on the receiving end of that. She stuck up for a friend who was being bullied and isolated by her classmates and eventually, even with Hina by her side, she ended up moving schools. With her gone, the bullying changed it's focus onto Hina and now she is being isolated and picked on.
It's heart-breaking.. </3
Hina is honestly one of the sweetest characters I've ever seen and to see her crying and hurting like she is...it seriously feels like your heart is in a vice ; ___ ;
Hana-chan is one of the most famous voice actresses in Japan and...maybe anywhere to people who watch anime and it's no secret as to why; she is so very talented! ^ω^
All the scenes where Hina is crying...it sounds so broken and so real that it's hard to believe it's acting! Hana-chan has captured Hina's emotions perfectly that you can't not cry when Hina cries and feel what she feels;; Also! When Hina was sat talking to Rei explaining that even though the class bullies her now, she doesn't think that protecting and sticking up for her friend was wrong, Hana-chan's voice has so much power in that speech and so much emotion that you just...you're completely mesmerised by Hina's conviction for her friend;;
Hana-chan's talent is always amazing, but sometimes you forget how amazing she can really be and it just blows you away when you see different roles that showcase her wonderful voice! I personally think that this season, Hina is one of her best moments ♡ω♡

7. Who was your favourite male character?
This was a hard question because no one in particular stood out to me...
So I went with a character I've loved since day one in the first season and that character is Souma Yukihira from Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara ( / / ω / / )

He is SO hot this season that he literally doesn't get burned by FIRE!! *o*
Is there anyone who doesn't love Souma? (ー_ーゞ
If there is... Why? He is literally perfect! *ω*
He can cook! He's witty! He's hot!!! Like, who wouldn't marry him?! ..exactly. You know you would.
But for the third season of Shokugeki no Souma, he is back again and cooking up a storm!
He's quite the hero this season, actually! His shokugeki stops the Polar Star Dormitory from getting destroyed, he helps keep Erina away from her father...and he even goes as far as to challenge Eishi Tsukasa who is the 1st seat of the Elite Ten Council *o*
His constant drive to keep learning and his never ending amount of confidence is just awesome! And I also love the fact he is really energetic but also laid back...he's like the perfect combination of everything!
Basically... Souma is a badass chef! (≧ω≦)ゞ

8. Who was your favourite female character?
Again, this was kinda hard because no one really stood out to me :,)
So I decided to choose the cute Sophie Hennes from Garo: Vanishing Line ( ^3^)

I couldn't find many good GIFS of her and this one seriously misrepresents her personality :,)
Sophie is suuuuper energetic! She has a lot of determination and that's what eventually gets Sword to agree to help her find her brother :,) She's also just...so, so, sooo sweet and cute ♡
Something else I love about Sophie is that she is really just super positive even though her brother is missing and she lives-- well, lived in an orphanage;; I mean, you'd think that would maybe make you feel a little down sometimes, but Sophie rarely shows any signs of that! She's just always smiling, looking out for others and just generally being a lovely girl :,)
If I had a younger sister like her... I know I wouldn't go missing > <

9. Who was your least favourite character?
My least favourite?
Asta "Asta Sutaria" from Black Clover (TV).
...'nuff said.

This GIF is Asta in a nutshell ( -___- );
He. Is. So. Annoying.
LIKE SERIOUSLY CAN YOU STOP SHOUTING FOR ONE SECOND?!?!?! (ノ`□´)ノ⌒┻━┻
This anime series is a heaping pile of stinking poop and Asta is like the annoying fly that flies around that poop > <
Nothing about him is likeable.
He's your boring and typical shounen character who dreams of becoming the best mage even though this dude lacks any magical power and instead inherited possibly the most powerful grimoire and uses a giant sword to fight > <
Also. He's an orphan who was dumped outside a church. I honestly don't blame the person who did that. I likely would have done it too :,)
His voice is enough to make your ears bleed.
Madadaaa! Madadaaaa! MADADAAAAA! MADADAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
We also got 51 episodes of this crap. Yippie... .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.

So that was my Fall Anime Tag!
As it looks so far... I'm relatively looking forward to the Winter Season ^o^
In particular, I'm looking forward to Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu and Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan 2. I know the previous seasons of those two and I loved them both, so I know what to expect and I'm excited :,)
Also! Two series I have been waiting for! *o*
One is Darling in the FranXX *ω* This series is a collaboration between the two studios A-1 Pictures and Trigger and I'm a big fan of those studios! /) / / (\
And the other is Violet Evergarden ♡ The first episode was previewed back in July at Anime Expo and the regular broadcasting will begin in January! ;ω;
Darling in the FranXX and Violet Evergarden look promising, soo...
Pleeeeeeease don't let me down!!! ;A;

I hope you enjoyed reading this tag! ^^

Life is Strange: Before The Storm - Episode 3: Hell Is Empty Review~

Hey guys! ( ^ _ ^ )

Well. It's over ; ___ ;
Life is Strange: Before The Storm saw the release of the final episode, Hell Is Empty yesterday and just like that.. It's done;;
I miss it so much already </3
And I just want to say for the record... It was one hella crazy ride! *o*
I know I said this in my review for the second episode, Brave New World but once again...this episode was even better! They just got better each time and this one was no let down either :,)
This final episode had to basically tie everything up that the game had given us so far and honestly...I think it did very well! I mean, three episodes is pretty short to begin with (especially when compared to the original Life is Strange which had five), but regardless of that...Deck Nine still managed to complete a wonderfully emotional game that kept you hanging on every little thing that happened all the way through.
I downloaded this episode as soon as it released (5pm GMT) and had to wait until...maybe just gone 9pm before it was ready to play (;*△*;) I reckon I maybe finished the episode around 12:30am, so...a pretty decent length :3
And... OhmyGOD!! ( ; ; ) I don't even know how to describe this feeling I have right now. It's almost like a feeling of loss :,) Like I'm so sad without this game! Life is Strange is probably the only game I've ever played that has emotionally affected me like this;; While I'm playing it, it's just a rollercoaster of everything and once it's done, all the emotions are left over and I just can't stop thinking about it!
There is SO much more I want to talk about!! ..but better leave that for the "My Thoughts" section of the review :,)

Oh! And if you're interested, I'll put the links here for my reviews of the first and second episode :3
Just in case you want to read them ^^;

Life is Strange: Before The Storm - Episode 1: Awake Review~ By SerahNyan (ME!)
Life is Strange: Before The Storm - Episode 2: Brave New World Review~ By SerahNyan (ME!)

So let's get this review started!

--SPOILER WARNING--
Usually I just use a "warning" before reviews, but I am going to talk a lot about the third episode and what happens, so if you haven't played the third episode yet and want to do so without knowing what happens...maybe don't read this review quite yet.

~   ~   ~

[ Available on Microsoft Windows, PS4 and Xbox One ]

Plot Outline~

Life is Strange: Before The Storm is set three years prior to the events of the original Life is Strange and, as opposed to Life is Strange where you play as Max Caulfield, Life is Strange: Before The Storm is played through the view point of 16 year old Chloe Price.
Currently, Chloe is feeling very alone and very abandoned. Her father has died and Max, her best friend, left her to go and live in Seattle. Chloe has tried to keep in contact with Max but Max eventually stopped talking to her.
With Joyce, Chloe's mother, bringing her new boyfriend, David Madsen into the picture, Chloe is feeling very frustrated at all these changes happening around her. Along with the absence of her now ex-best friend and her father gone, Chloe becomes very rebellious as a way to deal with all these emotions.
One day, she meets a girl called Rachel Amber who is very beautiful, very popular and has big dreams and the two girls form an unlikely friendship that becomes something very special to them both.

Gameplay~

Much like the original Life is Strange, you experience this game from a third-person point of view, only this time you assume control of Chloe. Unlike Max (who you control in the original Life is Strange), Chloe doesn't have any super natural abilities and definitely not the ability to time travel. Instead, Chloe has a little feature called "Backtalk" which is something of a...type of mini-game, I guess you could say, that allows Chloe to lash out and insult people as a way of getting them to do what she wants which, in turn, gets her out of less than desirable situations :,)
Something similar to the original Life is Strange though is the power of "Choice." You will be given various times in the game to interact with different people by being given the chance to make a choice on how you'll respond to things people say to you. And depending on what you choose, this affects the overall outcome of the game.
People who've played the original Life is Strange know that Max kept a diary which let us see more about how she felt about all the things that were happening. Chloe doesn't exactly keep a diary, it's more like she's writing letters to Max telling her what she's been doing, though she never sends these letters.
..it actually causes me emotional pain knowing Max has been completely ignoring Chloe all this time.
And again we all know Max enjoyed taking pictures of her surroundings (which also earned us Trophies in the original game). Now Chloe is no photographer, so instead Chloe is given a "Graffiti" option which allows her to draw on different areas in her surroundings which, of course, earns us the trophies.

Episode 3: Hell Is Empty Summary~

Once again, this episode picks up right after where the second one leaves off.
After being told at the end of the second episode that the woman, Sera, who Rachel and Chloe believed to be James' (Rachel's father) mistress is actually Rachel's birth mother, James then goes on to explain to Rachel about why he met her that day and why he never told Rachel about her.
It turns out Sera was a free spirit when she was younger, much like Rachel. Sera didn't have any specific plans for the future and kind of went through life not worrying about anything. When Sera had Rachel, James believed that this would help Sera to settle down and live with him which did happen...but only for a while. Sera was a drug addict and was even shown to take drugs right in front of Rachel while she was a baby. James didn't want Rachel to be around a mother like that, so he took Rachel away from Sera and raised her with his new wife. On that day when Rachel and Chloe saw James kiss Sera was when he refused Sera's plea to meet with Rachel. Apparently Sera had been clean of drugs for a while and felt she was ready to see Rachel, but James rejected her and that was that.
When Rachel retreats to her bedroom after being told all of this, Chloe goes up to see her and after the two talk for a while, Rachel reveals that she still wants to meet with Sera and Chloe vows she will do anything she can to make that happen.
When Chloe goes home the next day, she decides to call Frank, her drug dealer to ask about Sera since Chloe saw her leave Frank's RV in the second episode. Reluctantly, Frank agrees to meet Chloe in the junkyard later.
Before leaving, Chloe decides to take a shower and find her father's tools in the garage to fix up her truck that still isn't working. But before she can leave, she sees her mother, Joyce and David in the kitchen cooking together and she notes how happy her mother looks. A conversation scene with them ensues and you can be understanding towards David, or refuse to hear him out. Regardless of what you choose, you'll end up leaving and headed for the junkyard.
Chloe manages to fix up the truck she has and takes it for a quick joy ride around the junkyard before Rachel shows up since Chloe told her that she managed to get her drug dealer to meet with them to talk about Sera.
Chloe and Rachel are then ambushed by Frank and Damon who was hassling Drew for money in the second episode. Damon also wants to know why the two girls are so interested in finding Sera and eventually realises that Rachel is the DA's daughter. Because Rachel is who she is and is used to getting what she wants, when Frank and Damon refuse to help her, she lashes out at Damon and hits him across the back of his head with a plank of wood that was lying close by on the ground. Damon already had a knife and attacks Rachel and ends up stabbing her arm. Frank then holds off Damon and gives Chloe and Rachel a chance to escape.
Chloe takes Rachel to the hospital where she undergoes surgery, but is obviously okay afterwards.
While Chloe is waiting for Rachel to wake up, she has a relatively decent talk with Rachel's father about what happened. While here, you also visit Drew who (depending on what you choose in episode 2) may or may not have a broken knee. And also depending on what you choose, he may act differently. I chose to remain in his dorm room with Mikey and because Drew acted thankful for that choice, he wasn't bad to talk to. So maybe if you left the room, he would act differently.
ANYWAY!
Once you've visited them, Chloe is told that Rachel has woken up and goes to see her.
After everything that happened in the junkyard, Rachel is still determined to find Sera and Chloe is still going to help her do that. Rachel tells Chloe the code to her father's office at their home and Chloe will head there to see if she can find any clues as to where Sera may be. Before Chloe can leave the hospital, she sees Eliot who is suspicious of her and Rachel's relationship and gets a little bit hysterical when Chloe won't really give him any firm details on what they are both doing.
Once you arrive at Rachel's house and enter James' office, a lot of things come to light.
Instead of finding out about Sera, you end up discovering that James was actually in contact with Damon. So Chloe uses James' phone to convince Damon to tell her where Sera is and after you do everything he wants, he will send a photo of Sera who he currently has with him. It turns out he kidnapped Sera to get money from James. Chloe finds the money he wants in James' office but before she can leave, Eliot walks in after apparently following her to Rachel's house. Eliot snaps a little bit saying that he is the one who really cares for Chloe and that Rachel is just an actress using Chloe to get what she wants from her. While in the office, Eliot closes the office door which locks itself and after a while of trying to convince Eliot to calm the hell down, Chloe throws a trophy that was in the office through the window which sets off the alarm to the office. Eliot runs out and that gives Chloe the moment she needs to go to where Damon has Sera.
Once she arrives at the old mill which burned down, she spots smeared blood on Frank's RV and deduces that he must be hurt somewhere. But since she is there for Sera, she doesn't have the time to try and find out. When you enter the mill, you will eventually find Damon and Sera who he has tied up about to drug her. Chloe steps out before this happens to pay him the money. Damon lashes out at Chloe as he is angered to know she was pretending to be James' to get information from him. It is then revealed that James has continuously lied all along and that he asked Damon to kill Sera.
Before Damon can hurt Chloe anymore, Frank shows up and manages to fight him off. It is then implied that Frank killed Damon.
Chloe received a blow to the head from Damon and when she wakes up, she finds Sera sat nearby. Sera then asks Chloe to never tell Rachel what James was planning. She knows that James loves Rachel and that she can never truly be a mother to her and that she wants Rachel to keep her family.
When Chloe gets back to the hospital, you are then faced with your final choice:
Tell Rachel the truth
OR
Hide the truth from Rachel.

My Thoughts~

Before I get into the whole nitty-gritty of everything, I just want to say something first.
I made a HUGE mistake! ∑(゚ロ゚〃)
I'm not sure why, but right from the start...before the game even came out, I just immediately assumed that it would cover everything between Rachel and Chloe. From right up to when they meet to when Rachel disappears. It was during the wait for the third episode that I realised that just wouldn't be possible.
1. Because there are only three episodes and that just wouldn't be enough no matter how much you condensed everything into them.
2. Because Rachel and Chloe are friends for...at least three years! NO WAY would a game with three episodes be able to cover three years! Even if you did a years space between each one...it just wouldn't make sense and just wouldn't work!
I'm so stupid!!( ̄д ̄)
I mean, when you look at it again Chloe is 16 when she meets Rachel and 19 in the original Life is Strange! And I can't remember exactly how long before the original Life is Strange it was when Rachel disappeared.. Was it 5-6 months?? Either way, there is still three years of their friendship! So...my stupid little brain really made a big mistake there, huh? :,)
And one more thing!! Because of all the fan theories that went around (yes, I know they are simply just fan theories) about Rachel being the root of the storm and everything in Life is Strange, I thought that when Rachel kicked over the bin in the first episode and screamed and the wind whipped around her while the tree was aflame that maybe she had some sort of power that made her being the storm true.
But that was also just another mistake I made because that was never touched on again in the game :,)
Yeeeeeaaaaa... So. No supernatural powers whatsoever in Before The Storm.
Just a lot of teenage drama. XD
Just kidding. I know it's well founded and not "drama."

Let's get back on track now :,)
I absolutely, completely, totally and truly LOVED this game with every ounce of my being! ♥
It's possible that I may like it even more than the original Life is Strange..! (゚ロ゚)
I just think that there is something so alluring and powerful about Rachel and Chloe's friendship that isn't the same with Chloe and Max in Life is Strange. I mean, I know it's not supposed to be. But there is just such a bigger and greater appeal to Rachel and Chloe than there is to Chloe and Max even though they were best friends in their childhood.
And despite Deck Nine using just a three episode arc, I really think they managed to capture the intensity of Rachel and Chloe's friendship. It honestly just never felt forced or rushed to me! Like they say in the game..
 "Sometimes when you meet someone who is going to change your life...you just know it."
There is just such a magical force between the two that just feels so natural that it just...completely draws you, as the player, in! ..at least it did for me >ω<
I know a lot of people have negative feelings towards Rachel because she hooks up with Frank and then later Mark Jefferson, but does that lessen how much Rachel clearly cares about Chloe? We all know Rachel is full of ambitions, but she is also a very damaged soul. And I think anyone would make decisions they may not always be proud of if you're deeply hurting inside and not sure where to go or what to do. And it's also heavily implied that Rachel hooked up with Frank because of his "stash" to quote Nathan :,)
And Rachel believed that Mark Jefferson truly saw potential in her and also believed that he cared about her. And we all know how that guy has the creepy good ability to honey his words, so what reason did Rachel have to not believe him? And Rachel did write to Chloe about him, so never did she stop caring about Chloe. Rachel just had big, big dreams that she would never not go after!
Honestly, after this game...
I am 100% all about AmberPrice! ♥
They just suit each other so well and compliment each other in all the right ways. They really care and love each other and...I just think their friendship is such a wonderful thing ;ω;
Also!! That ending sequence! It's probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen;;
It shows Chloe full dye her hair blue, it shows them in the photo booth together taking pictures, it shows them with their tattoos...it shows them doing so much that players of the original Life is Strange will recognise! I honestly cried so much during that; it was just a little bit of perfection! ;ω;
And once again.
Something we knew we'd have to do. We all saw it coming.
That final decision.
That awful final choice you make.
I mean, granted this one wasn't as hard as choosing whether to Sacrifice Chloe or Sacrifice Arcadia Bay...but it was still a pretty tough decision.
Actually, I think it was equally tough, just in a very different way.
I already said what it was in the Plot Outline, but basically what you're deciding to do is whether you'll tell Rachel about what James was doing all along or not.
I mean, to keep a truth that big from someone seems really horrible;; But then to tell Rachel that James wanted to have Sera killed seems horrible also as it would just break apart that family.
But me being who I am...I hate lies and keeping things from people (unless I've been told a secret that no one wants me to tell), so... I chose to tell Rachel the truth.
And it was SO sad! James walked into the room when he heard Rachel crying and that look she gave him...he straight away knew what had happened;; I mean, something that big! Even if it rocks your entire world...wouldn't you want to know?
Also while I was looking at all the different choices you could make and what other players chose at the end, I saw that there was one that said something like "Rachel meets Sera .. 5%" or something like that. So...if you choose to hide the truth from Rachel...is that how she meets her birth mother? Because I didn't get that one.
I mean, I'm obviously going to play the game more than once, so I'll find out at some point.
So, yea;; It was just a really tough choice to make. I mean, keeping Rachel in the dark about something like that just seems cruel. But then telling her the truth is also cruel as it would just break her. Honestly...is there a right or wrong answer for that one?! If so, I would like to know what it is :,)
If there was one thing I hated...it was this:
After the moving and gorgeous ending sequence...the credits role...and what do we see?
We see Rachel's phone has had a ton of missed calls from Chloe. It then starts vibrating receiving another call from Chloe. The screen pans out and we see Rachel's phone on a familiar glass table.
Something isn't right.
The screen pans out more and what do we hear?
Camera shutter sounds.
Then it clicks.
Rachel is in Mark Jefferson's Dark Room having those sick pictures of her taken.
It then hits you that after that...she will likely only be alive for a few more hours at the most.

THAT WAS NOT NECESSARY!!!! ; ____ ;

We know, okay?! We know that Rachel dies and what happened to her that lead up to that!
We didn't need to see it happen;; That was just too awful;;
When it clicked and I realised what was happening, I started crying! So loudly, I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up my sleeping mum and sister!
I was devastated to see that included at the end.
It literally put a skid mark all over that ending sequence that I loved so much </3
It was just...so upsetting;; And just reminded you fully of the cold, hard truth that Chloe faces in Life is Strange.

If there was also another thing I hated or didn't like...
It was Eliot??
Like, why was he suddenly stalking Chloe and following her to Rachel's house. He refused to let her leave and got really frightening when talking to her about Rachel just using her and demanding that Chloe tell him the truth. Honestly, that felt unnecessary to add into the game. It didn't add anything at all apart from..
 "Well, what the fuck was that?!"
It made no sense and made no difference to the plot at all :,)
That was definitely something I consider to be pointless.

Moving along now to something else ^o^
The voice cast was brilliant in this episode! I've been back and forth especially with Rhianna DeVries :,)
I liked her in the first episode.
Her voice and tone of it bothered me a lot in the second episode as it sounded to have a constantly sarcastic ring to to.
But she won me back in the third episode :,)
There was such emotion in Chloe's voice during this episode! It felt so real and heartfelt;;
Kylie Brown (voice of Rachel Amber) was brilliant as well! This episode was really where Kylie shined! Rachel was the centre of all the hurt this time round because of her father's secret coming out and I really think she delivered the raw emotion Rachel would have been feeling.
And I've always thought this, but she plays the role of the popular girl in school and then swapping to the real girl with Chloe so well!
They're both wonderful actresses :3

And again with the music, Daughter were fabulous as well ;ω;
I've loved how that throughout the game, they've used different instruments to convey the different feelings of the characters. And the lyrics are so expertly matched with the music and the scenes in which the songs are used;; Each piece of music they made and each song they created fit into the game like a puzzle piece and really helped to craft the emotion that was being shown.

Bonus Episode~

Before The Storm may be over, but it's not quite the end yet~! ^o<
There is one more episode we have to look forward to! >ω<
And that is Life is Strange: Before The Storm - Bonus Episode, "Farewell"

This episode brings back our two favourites; Chloe and Max.
It's going to give the players...mostly likely our last chance to play as Max;;
This episode is set before Max moves away from Arcadia Bay and before Chloe's father dies.
So it's a chance to see what their friendship was like before there are life threatening stakes on the line, like Ashly says :,)
And also! It's super exciting for have Hannah Telle to come back and voice Max and also extra suuuuuuuper exciting to have the amazing Ashly Burch back to voice Chloe since the Strike she was part of prevented her from returning to voice Chloe in Before The Storm;;
This episode will hopefully release early 2018! So we still have some hype left in us, guys! ;D

Conclusion~

To conclude my review (..or whatever you can call this..) XD
Life is Strange: Before The Storm is seriously one of the greatest gaming experiences;;
It's wonderful and it's wonderful in all the best ways ♥
I remember last time when I wrote my conclusion, I went on to say how I was "on the fence" about Chloe and Rachel having an option to kiss, but now I've finished the game...
I'm over the fence.
And on the side of AmberPrice!! >ω<
I still have my own personal view of what their relationship was like, but seeing it in a romantic way like Before The Storm offered isn't a bad thing either :3
I think it's that Chloe and Rachel are two people who aren't shy about certain things, so neither of them have problems showing each other-- Or anyone, for that matter how they feel.
So that's why I'm okay with it now :3

But with the game as a whole...
It's amazing!! And I'd seriously recommend it to every Life is Strange fan!
It contains all the elements that make a Life is Strange game what it is and doesn't hold back with all it's emotional punches! While 3 episodes was short, the team planned it all out very well and the writing (of course) was great so... What can I fault? Nothing.

10/10
..seriously.

I loved it! It was just...everything I could have hoped for in the end ;ω;
Though I could have done without that final scene ; ___ ;

And I cannot wait for the Farewell episode! That's also going to pack an emotional punch or two, I'm sure :,)

Thank you for reading this review(?) and I really hope you enjoyed it! ^^
I know my reviews are exactly "reviews"...but regardless of what they are, I still hope they are enjoyable :3
And I also hope everyone who played Life is Strange: Before The Storm had a hella amazing time doing so! ..I know I did *ω*

Once again, thank you for reading and have an awesome day! ^o^

Life is Strange: Before The Storm - Episode 2: Brave New World Review~

Hey there! ^^

As you may be able to guess from the title of this blog, I'm going to be doing a review of the new episode of Life is Strange: Before The Storm, "Brave New World."
I actually finished this on Thursday and was planning to do the review straight after like I did before with Episode 1: Awake, but I was kinda really tired from staring at my TV for so long and my head was hurting since I didn't wear my glasses.. Whoops (-_\)
So I made some small notes on all the main events that took place in the episode while they were still fresh in my mind so I wouldn't forget for today when I start my review :,)
..I actually started writing this yesterday, but stopped because I had to go out > <"
But (I'm going to do a "Max Caulfield" here and say..) WOWZER! This episode was even better than the first!
I'm still, like...feeling everything I felt while I was playing the game. It honestly, seriously and completely moved me in so many different ways! One moment made me cry which then gradually turned into nearly hysterical sobbing (I'll explain that later) and the ending of the episode!! Like, my literal reaction was..
 "..! *GAAAAAAAAAAAAASP*" ∑(;°Д°) ..then followed by your typical hand-over-mouth-shocked gesture :,)
..but I digress :,)

Oh! And if you're interested, I'll put a link here for my review of the first episode :3
..just in case you want to read that ^^;

Life is Strange: Before The Storm - Episode 3: Hell Is Empty Review~ By SerahNyan (ME!)

So let's get started!

--SPOILER WARNING--
Usually I just use a "warning" before reviews, but I am going to talk a lot about the second episode and what happens, so if you haven't played the second episode yet and want to do so without knowing what happens...maybe don't read this review quite yet.

Episode 2: Brave New World Summary~

This episode picks up right after where the first one left off, only it's the next day.
Chloe and Rachel have both been called into the Principle's Office (along with Rachel's parents and Chloe's mother) and Mr. Wells informs them that them skipping school is unacceptable behaviour and that they must be punished. Rachel is almost forbidden from performing in the school's play of The Tempest, but after talking more, she is allowed to remain in the play. However (even though all previous Life is Strange players know this), Chloe ends up expelled from Blackwell Academy.
..kinda unfair if you ask me since ditching was Rachel's idea...but meh > <
After this, Chloe is escorted by the school's security, Skip, to clean out her locker. She'll then go on a tag rage in the girls bathroom and eventually ends up meeting with her mother, Joyce and her mother's boyfriend, David in the school's carpark. David berates Chloe for her actions and tells her that being expelled reflects poorly on her and on her mother while Joyce remains mostly quiet through this. After a little while, Joyce will announce to Chloe that David is to move in with them to which Chloe immediately hates the idea and will storm off after saying what she believes is necessary.
Chloe finds solitude in the junkyard and wanders around there for a while until she finds an old truck (which turns out to be her truck in Life is Strange) and decides to repair it. What's really cool about this is that if you examine everything in the junkyard, you can actually fill the truck with familiar things that we all saw in Life is Strange, for example the little bobble-head dude that sits on her dashboard. After Chloe is finished doing what she can do to the truck, the receives a call from her drug dealer, Frank who tells her that he has a job for her and that he will come to meet her in the junkyard. After this call ends, Chloe has another dream sequence (quite a creepy one, I might add) about her father and gets woken up by Rachel knocking on the truck window asking if she can come in. They have a mini therapy session together and then Rachel leaves to go and prepare for the play she is in. Rachel brought a duffle bag with her full of clothes and she tells Chloe to go and pick an outfit to wear. Chloe will do this in the small...I guess you could call it "clubhouse" that we also know from Life is Strange and there are also a few things within it that you can decorate the room with. Once Chloe has chosen an outfit, she gets a message from Frank saying he is at the junkyard and she heads to his RV but before she goes in, she sees a woman exit the RV who happens to be the woman we saw in Episode 1: Awake with Rachel's father.
When Chloe gets inside Frank's RV, if you complete the backtalk challenge successfully, you find out that the woman's name is Sera (unless you find out either way? I'm not sure since I succeeded in the backtalk thing.) Once that is all out of the way, Frank explains to Chloe that the job he wants her to do is to collect money from a student at Blackwell who has been buying drugs but has failed to make payment and is now ignoring phone calls and messages. Chloe reluctantly agrees to help since Frank said he'd give her 10% of the money and so Chloe, the now expelled student, finds herself back at Blackhell once again.
Getting into the Boys Dormitory is a bit of a hassle but once in there, you find out that the student refusing to pay is Mikey's older brother, Drew. Once Chloe has found the money in Drew's room, Mikey enters and sees her, but before Chloe can come up with a real excuse as to why she is there, Drew walks in. Surprisingly, Drew isn't overly concerned to see Chloe; he is just insistent that him and Mikey hurry up and leave. Before they can, you hear someone calling for Drew out in the hallway and Drew tells Chloe and Mikey to stay put while he deals with the situation. It is then revealed that Drew is in debt with another drug dealer who happens to gets violent on him. With this scene, I think you can stop a particular violent action this guy does to Drew, but I chose to remain in the room which I felt awful about afterwards. Even though Drew, Mikey and Steph thank Chloe for it, I still felt bad.
After this, Chloe will go to meet up with Rachel before the play but instead sees Victoria put muscle relaxant into a drink she is planning to give Rachel. You are given a few choices of how to stop Rachel from drinking the tea and I chose to outright blame Victoria and, I know Rachel is an actress and all, but I honestly had no idea if she was being serious when she was all like..
 "Nah. Victoria wouldn't do that to me. She is one of my closest friends!"
..I think maybe he was lying, but anyway! Victoria drinks the tea to prove Chloe was wrong even though Chloe was right and Victoria passes out later.
Chloe is then roped into performing in place of someone else who can't make it and the play ends up being a huge success! ..even though Rachel started ad-libbing a conversation between her and Chloe which I didn't really fully understand since they were still using Shakespeare-esque talk ^^; But I think it was basically about their new friendship and how they should run away together.
Once the play is over, Rachel is on an adrenaline high and tells Chloe that they really should run away together and obviously, Chloe will agree to this. Rachel will take Chloe to her house so they can pack but before they can, they both get caught by her parents and their plans are put on hold as they are asked to stay and have dinner. While they are all eating, an argument breaks out and eventually Rachel gets tired of playing "happy family" with her father and snaps at him saying that she knows that he has been cheating on her mother with some other woman.
! MAJOR SPOILER TIME !
But it turns out that the woman Rachel saw her father with is her actual mother!!? ..so, GOD KNOWS who the woman Rachel believed to be her mother is! :,)
I guess we'll find that out in the last episode :,)
..yea. I now realise this was not a summary, but the entire episode in written form ^^;

My Thoughts~

I, for one, am really enjoying this game and I really loved this episode.
It was SO much better than the first one! And that's not to say the first episode was bad, it was awesome! I just thought this one was better! There is just something really special about Chloe and Rachel's relationship that just completely draws you in. It's just very raw and real and it doesn't feel fake or rushed in any way. I honestly don't understand how Deck Nine have done it, but they've really done so well at developing a relationship between these two girls that feels SO real. Like really real! And I just love how close they are even though they haven't known each other long at all. I've seen some fans talk about how that doesn't seem realistic and, yes. I guess in a sense people don't become instantly close like this in real life, but we all know how much Chloe loved Rachel and how important their friendship was to her, so there was definitely something there. Like maybe a little red string of fate or something *3*
This episode also packed in the drama. A lot.
We know the next episode is the last one, so everything that probably rocks Rachel severely needs to be shown, like...now since we know she's involved with Frank at one point (even though it's heavily implied she didn't fully reciprocate Frank's feelings) and then also Mark Jefferson which then leads to her disappearance. I'm also intrigued about knowing what Chloe and Rachel's relationship was like towards the end. Maybe it was more strained or maybe it was still as strong as it is. I also remember Frank saying in the original Life is Strange to Chloe that Chloe herself was part of the problem as to why Rachel disappeared, so I want to know if that is true.
If there was one thing I wasn't 100% okay with...
I would say that was the Kiss option between Chloe and Rachel.
Some people have said they didn't get that option, so maybe that's if they chose the "Friendship" choice in the first episode. But I chose the "Something more" option, so maybe that's why I got it. I mean, we all know their relationship is more than just a simple friendship, but I never felt Chloe's love for Rachel was reciprocated. My personal view of their friendship was that...
Okay, so we all know Chloe was in love with Rachel. That Rachel was her angel and saved her. That's fine, we all know that. And I've always felt that it's possible Rachel knew how Chloe felt and what she meant to her...but I felt that Rachel would try and keep Chloe at a distance regarding her feelings of love for her. Because Rachel always had big dreams and it's maybe possible that Chloe didn't always fit into the future Rachel was after. So I think maybe Rachel felt keeping Chloe's feelings at a distance would lessen the blow of her leaving and possibly leaving Chloe behind. Also because, again, we know Rachel was in a relationship with Frank. I truly feel that if Rachel did love Chloe and had serious feelings for her, she wouldn't ever cheat on her. Regardless of the fact she didn't tell Chloe about Frank, I feel that Rachel would never betray a romantic relationship with Chloe. Which is also why I feel this game has...catered more to the feelings of the fans. I think maybe something that isn't quite right is how this game has really pushed all the romantic choices you can take with Rachel when I seriously feel that nothing was ever romantic about their relationship. It was just a very intense friendship that resulted in Chloe loving Rachel as much as she did. Rachel probably didn't even intend for that to happen.
But anyway. Back to the kiss :,)
I think depending on the choices you make after choosing the "Something more" option, Rachel will either kiss Chloe and leave it at that. Or Rachel will kiss Chloe and then continue to make out with her. I got the latter one and yea, I KNOW I just ragged on the whole..
 "The kiss isn't right!!"
thing, but I chose it regardless of how I felt about it. Honestly, I didn't know they were going to make out!! Sue me.
And that was the thing I mentioned earlier that made me cry which then nearly turned into hysterical sobbing. Because we all know what happens to Rachel and how hard Chloe fell for her and how hurt and distraught Chloe is when you find out what happened to Rachel. And it was SO heart-warming but awful at the same time to see them have such an intimate moment when we know that their worlds are going to completely break apart;; So...yea. I cried and managed to suppress the hysterical sobbing that nearly broke through :,)
Like, seriously. Okay, a kiss between them is maybe fine. I think what I totally wasn't okay with was the fact that certain choices lead them to making out. It just doesn't feel like that's what their relationship was ever really about. Nothing romantic, at least. And that's all just my personal feelings.
So that's why I'm not 100% okay with the kiss. Like, it was lovely and sweet. But never really the impression I got from their relationship. I honestly always felt Rachel would have kept Chloe at a safe distance, you know?

ALSO!!
Chloe needs to get a move on and dye her hair blue :,)
We all know that at some point during their relationship Chloe has blue hair.

There's your proof!
So we definitely need that to happen at some point in the last episode... Right?
We also need to see or have it implied in some way that Rachel is spending time with Frank. Or maybe not even directly implied so much since Chloe had no idea... But maybe we can at least assume that is happening in some way. I'd also like to see Mr. Asshole-- Oh! I'm sorry! Mark Jefferson pop up somewhere. Because we know him and Rachel hooked up and that he is the one Rachel refers to in her letter to Chloe that she met someone who has "changed her life."
And he is also the one responsible for her disappearance. And if the game is going to continue right up to Rachel going missing, we need all of these things to come into play.
I'd also like to know, if there is a specific reason, what is was that brought Rachel and Chloe together. We know they met by chance at the Firewalk show, but is there something more as to why Rachel wanted to seek Chloe out the next day regardless of her saying that "yesterday was one of the best days" and "I didn't want it to end" type of thing :,)
..maybe I'm just reading too much into that ^^;

Daughter continue to amaze with the music! Honestly, this game has one hell of a soundtrack.
It's brilliant!
In particular A Hole in the Earth was an especially moving piece;;
And the art style is still alive and kicking :,) It seriously is such an improvement from the first game! There is a lot more detail to the general surroundings that it's almost mesmerising and too realistic. ..if that's possible ^^;
I personally also can't get over how gorgeous Rachel is. Honestly if I was in Chloe's shoes, I'd be totally in love too :,) It's also the fact how Rachel is...quite charismatic; she can really draw someone to her. And she also feels bright and alive and I think that's just a few of the reasons why Chloe is completed enamoured with her.

Conclusion~

So...to sum up my ramblings :,)
Even though I had some issues, I really feel this game is worth everything! And even though my feelings about their kiss are on-the-fence, I feel like...I actually ship Chloe and Rachel more than Chloe and Max :,)
Even though Chloe eventually forgives Max for bailing on her, I always felt a slight element of tension remain. And even though their friendship is so lovely and what Chloe needed at that time, I feel that Rachel had way more of an impact on Chloe's life than Max returning did and that impact continued to remain with Chloe.
And that's why Before The Storm is so great! It's really awesome being able to see all these moments between Chloe and Rachel fleshed out and actually being able to experience them;;
Episode 2: Brave New World really throws you into the thick of everything and has really set the mood for the third episode. We know it's going to be a dramatic and soul crushing one and Episode 2: Brave New World has definitely continued on strong from the first episode and has risen the climax considerably!
It's easy for new fans to find a way to enjoy this game :3
But for old fans, I really do recommend it! I know some people have avoided it thinking it's a mistake, but it's truly a wonderful experience seeing Chloe and Rachel. I can't talk it up enough and if you're thinking about it...
Just. Buy. It. Already.
I don't know how you could possibly be disappointed. I swear! It's worth your time!

Thank you for reading my messily (again) put together review :,)
I hope you enjoyed reading it and if you're playing Life is Strange: Before The Storm, I also hope you are enjoying that as well! *v*
